Bio

Mary is currently Director of Enterprise Risk Management at Eide Bailly, LLP, a CPA and consulting firm. She leads their Enterprise Risk Management consulting initiatives firm-wide, as well as leading their internal ERM efforts. Mary has broad experience in all aspects of enterprise risk management (ERM) and insurance risk management. Her capabilities include identifying & assessing risk exposures, risk transfer & risk mitigation options, risk monitoring, and reducing the total cost of risk. She has a proven ability to implement effective risk control strategies and benchmarking metrics. Mary is exceptionally focused on strategic business objectives to drive performance at all levels in an organization. She focuses ERM initiatives into a competitive advantage, identifying opportunities to accelerate growth.

With over 20 years experience in the risk management and insurance industry, Mary has held positions as director of enterprise risk management & insurance risk management consulting; corporate director of risk management and risk manager; in addition to positons with both major insurance companies and insurance brokers. She has experience in both the property/casualty and health/life/disability areas as well as international manufacurting and service organizations.

Mary is a member of the ISO 31000 (Risk Management Standard) US Technical Advisory Group, and part of a sub committee writing an implementation guide for the United States.
She is co-chair of an ERM roundtable of ERM practioners in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area to share successes and challenges surrounding the improvement of the ERM process in their organizations.
Organizer for a national ERM Roundtable for Healthcare, and chair of ASHRM (American Society for Healthcare Risk Management) Risk Assessment Toolkit taskforce to implement an ERM approach.
Mary is a recognized speaker on ERM topics at national, regional, and local conferences.
Mary has previously served as Vice President of the Minnesota Chapter of RIMS, but resigned due to her career move from a director of risk management to a risk management consultant. She currently serves on the MN RIMS education committee, and is very active in their mentoring program. Mary has chaired both the MN RIMS Annual Seminar and program committees.
In addition to RIMS, Mary is actively involved in Professional Insurance Women (PIW) in Minneapolis.
