Bio

Rich Johanson has worked in the insurance and risk management industry for over 13 years. He currently works as a senior risk analyst at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). SAIC is a scientific, engineering, and technology applications company serving federal and local government agencies and select commercial markets in the areas of national security, energy and the environment, critical infrastructure, and health. Prior employers include 24 Hour Fitness, Crawford & Company and Macy's.

Rich's professional duties include policy placement and claims administration for primary and excess casualty, marine and other specialty lines of insurance. He also conducts contract reviews, participates in due diligence on mergers & acquisitions and provides insurance training sessions for company business managers.

Additionally Rich has served on the board of directors for the San Diego Chapter of the Risk & Insurance Management Society since 2006, served two years as chapter president and is currently the chapter delegate.

Rich obtained a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Cal State San Marcos in 2007, and obtained his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Claims (AIC) designations in 2004. In 1997 Rich obtained his bachelor of arts degree in Spanish with a minor in finance from San Diego State University. Rich’s undergraduate studies included a year at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain, where he hopes to return some day to visit.

When not working, Rich enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons at their home in Temecula, CA. Rich’s activities include running and playing golf (especially with his kids). He has completed a full marathon and several half marathons through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program. Rich is also an Eagle Scout and currently volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster for his sons’ Boy Scout troop in Temecula.
