    FACEBOOK SECURITY ALERT

Ada County's Information Technology Network Security Administrator would like to inform county employees of a virus being delivered via Facebook.  While employees should not be accessing their personal Facebook pages from county computers, the following information may help prevent malicious software from being installed on your personal computer at home.

The worm/virus currently circulating is not new; however, Facebook officials do confirm an increase in recent attacks on Facebook users.  Ada County has already received 14 separate alerts of the Koobface worm attempting to download malicious software on the county's system.  The worm sends a message to your Facebook in-box announcing "you look funny in this new video" and urges you to click on a provided link to watch the video.  Once on the video site, a message indicates you need to update your Flash player before viewing the video.  A link to flash_player.exe is provided.  Clicking this link installs the worm and malicious code on your machine
