    Linda,

John's comments are right on the mark.

RIMS featured a webinar on ISO 31000 and its implications for risk management on December 1. It is available in the RIMS webinar archives (Education/Webinars/Webinar Archives). The presenters, which include two members of the RIMS SPC committee, discuss standards in general and more specifically what's different about ISO 31000.

    Check it out!

I agree with the last two responses. This, as every other framework, provides good guidance to establishing a tailored framework for any organization. I have used the S&P framework, the COSO framework, Turnbull from the UK and ISO's. The only issue I have is having a framework published by a standards association - risk management is an executive management discipline and I am not sure whether this promotes it or relegates it to a technical discipline.
