Bio

Mr. Presmanes is Vice President and Director of Risk Management and Insurance for Havertys, a publicly traded, home furnishings retailer with over 120 showrooms in 16 states and a billion dollars per year in annual sales. Jim has thirty years of corporate risk management experience and is responsible for all aspects of the company's property and casualty insurance programs and the enterprise risk assessment process. Jim holds an MBA in Risk Management and Insurance, an MS in Finance, and a Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management, all from the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, where in 2017 he was inducted into the Risk Management and Insurance Hall of Fame. He also has a Certificate of Professional Development (CPD) from The Wharton School for completion of a year-long executive leadership program. 2021 marks Jim's tenth consecutive year as an instructor in the Risk Management and Insurance program at Georgia State University. He has also guest lectured numerous times in the MBA programs at University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, the Masters of Accounting program at University of Virginia's McIntire School, and at St. John's University in NYC. Jim has been a featured speaker at the Atlanta Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the FORBES CFO Forum in NY, and annual RIMS Conferences. In 2016 he and co-author Dr. Paul Walker of St. John's presented a paper on Macro-Risk Analysis at the annual RIMS Enterprise Risk Management Conference in Atlanta. Jim currently serves on the Standards and Practices Council at RIMS, following three years of service on the Annual Conference Programming Committee. He is a member of the Wharton Executive Education Alumni Group since 2001 and is the ranking member of the Risk Management Advisory Board at Liberty Mutual.
