Christopher E. Mandel is Instructor of the ERM Practice, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the retired SVP, strategic solutions for Sedgwick, Inc. and founding director of the Sedgwick Institute. He is also Chief Risk Advisor to USI Southwest, founder, president and managing consultant of Excellence in Risk Management, LLC and is an Adjunct Professor George Mason Universities (GMU) and is on the CRO executive development program advisory council at GMU. Mr. Mandel has more than 30 years leadership positions and accomplishments in large corporate global risk management. He currently holds various board or advisory appointments to various industry-related organizations. He was a key leader in the Risk Management Society including president. elected a founding member of Risk Who's Who in 2008, was named Risk Manager of the Year and received the Goodell Award for lifetime achievement (2016), RIMS highest honor. He is recognized by his peers as a thought leader in ERM and related disciplines and has had continuously running columns in the trade press since 1996. Mr. Mandel received his B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a MBA in Finance from George Mason University. Between these university programs, he was conferred numerous designations including RIMS-CRMP, CPCU, ARME and Certified Trainer in ISO31000. He is a frequent industry speaker and author and contributes to the Risk Insider column for Risk and Insurance magazine writes the Claims Management Column for IRMI. He resides with his wife Mary Anne in greater Nashville, Music City, USA.
