Ellen R. Dunkin is Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Risk Officer of Amalgamated Life Insurance Company, in White Plains, NY, where she is responsible for regulatory compliance, legal counsel, interactions with New York State and various insurance departments, and oversight of all contracts. She also heads the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management program and committee, and works with the Company’s brokers on its insurance program and claims administration. Ms. Dunkin brings a proven track record in corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), enterprise risk management, company financings, human resources (HR) and executive compensation.
Previously, Ms. Dunkin served as Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel and Director of Risk Management with the Crump Group, Inc. In addition, her career includes roles as General Counsel & Director of Government Affairs for the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).; Senior Attorney at Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc.; and Corporate Associate with Willkie Farr & Gallagher.
Ms. Dunkin currently serves as a RIMS Board Director and was a President and Director of the New York Chapter of RIMS; a Member of the Small Law Department and Employment & Labor Law Committees (ELLC) of the Association of Corporate Counsel; and Secretary of the ELLC, having previously served as Co-Chair of the ELLC programming committee.
She recently stepped down as Vice Chair of the Town of Mamaroneck’s (NY) Planning Board, having served on the Board for over 10 years. Her past community service roles have included that as president of the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation (Mamaroneck, NY) and Member of its Board of Directors and Advisory Board.
Ms. Dunkin earned her BA in English from the SUNY at Albany (Albany, NY ) and her JD from St. John’s University School of Law (Jamaica, NY), where she served as Associate Editor of the Law Review.
