Rebecca Cady: RIMS 2018 Risk Manager of the Year
Rebecca Cady is Vice President, Chief Risk Officer at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate of Georgetown University, and a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law. Prior to coming to CNMC in 2008, Rebecca was a partner at Grace, Hollis, Lowe, Hanson and Schaeffer, a California law firm, where she practiced in the areas of malpractice defense, healthcare, and professional licensure law. She has published extensively in the area of nursing and the law, and is a frequent lecturer to healthcare providers. She was Editor in Chief of the Journal of Nursing Administration's Healthcare Law, Ethics, and Regulation from 2002-2013. She was named the 2018 Risk Manager of the Year by RIMS, the Risk and Insurance Management Society, a global professional organization of risk professionals from all industries. She was also named the 2018 Risk Manager of the Year by ASHRM, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
Joseph (Joe) T. Meaney, Jr.: RIMS 2018 Risk Management Honor Role
As Vice President of Global Insurance and Risk Engineering for AES Corporation, Joseph Meaney is responsible for establishing and directing the global insurance and risk management practice, including the identification, management and efficient financing of construction, operational, and business risks. In addition, he oversees all global risk engineering activities and is an advisor to the senior leadership team on risk issues.
Under Joe’s leadership, AES’s Risk Engineering Program is now recognized as a world-leading self-directed engineering program. The program extends to all operational power plants and power plants under construction including several involving complex civil engineering challenges and single project investments in excess of $1 billion. Since the program’s inception, there have been more than 2,200 site visits, over 10,900 risk improvement opportunities identified, and AES’s potential for loss has been reduced by over $30.4 billion.
Additionally, Joe has successfully enhanced AES’s captive (AGIC), allowing for it to become a sophisticated risk financing tool delivering unique solutions that enable AES to effectively compete in its marketplaces. In turn, AGIC has become a revenue generator, providing material annual corporate contributions over the last five years to the parent company.
Kathleen Crowe: 2018 Risk & Insurance Power Broker
Kathleen Crowe is an Account Executive at Aon. In her role, Crowe manages, drives and administers risk management and insurance brokerage services to a broad range of clients. She has a focus on ensuring regulatory insurance compliance on a worldwide basis for her clients. Crowe was recognized in 2016 as the RIMS Rising Star of the Year as well as honored as a 2018 Power Broker by Risk & Insurance Magazine.
