ARM/CPCU Designations

Sharpen your skills with  RIMS Professional Development Courses . To pursue advanced designations, including the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), contact the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America at www.aicpcu.org.

Associate in Risk Management (ARM) - Are you thinking about your New Year’s Resolutions for 2013?  Well, it’s time to start!  The Associate in Risk Management program has undergone a significant update.  The Chapter will be offering ARM 56 beginning January 14, 2013, utilizing the new materials. Not sure the ARM program is for you?

Consider that the ARM program helps individuals:

  • Strengthen their value to the organization by learning to design a risk management program
  • Improve effectiveness by acquiring skills needed to assess and treat the organization's risks
  • Support the organization's overall financial goals by learning to design and implement retention, transfer, and hybrid risk financing plans

What has changed overall:

  • Risk management standards and guidelines are discussed (COSO, Basel II, FERMA)
  • The program now discusses all types of risk (financial, operational, strategic), not just hazard (insurable) risk
  • Risk assessment content is combined with risk control content in ARM 55
  • Financial statement analysis content is added to ARM 54
  • Global concepts and examples are added throughout
  • Content is trimmed to a more manageable length

Don’t consider yourself a ‘risk professional’?  If you work with risk managers or deal with commercial insurance issues, this program will help you better understand the strategic, business, and hazard risks faced by organizations today.  You will become a more effective resource for your colleagues and customers.
