Operating in Emerging Markets, the Invisible Risks
- Paul A. Boynton, EIA Global
When operating in countries with unstable politics and economies, risk managers often think of the apparent perils involved - the “seen” risks like property damage and business interruption caused by civil commotion, political violence or worse. But the realities are there are more risks present - the “unseen” risk - that need risk management focus. Abandonment, sanctions, loss of attraction and many other issues where property may not be damaged at all- but the financial consequences are serious- will be reviewed.

Insurtech, Risktech and the Future of Risk - Chris Mandel, RIMS-CRMP, RF, Sedgwick

One hour of CE approved by Texas Department of Insurance
For decades, many have viewed the insurance industry as slow to change and stuck in old ways, failing to leverage technological and other advancements embraced by the rest of the financial services space. Some cite the heavy regulatory nature of the industry, but banks and investment companies are similarly subject to regulatory hurdles as insurers. Others cite the comfort zone that traditions often bring. While there’s some truth in every point of view, the truth lies somewhere along the spectrum of opinion. Regardless, today’s reality is that enormous sums of venture capital are pouring into the bigger space of addressing “risks” facilitating the goals of both buyers and sellers. In this session, a senior though leader in risk management will explain where we’ve been, where we are and where we seem to be heading in the management of risk including the role of insurance and the impacts of trends that are changing the “industry” game.
