Join CTC RIMS for an educational seminar on Active Shooter Preparedness with speaker Darren Jackson, Simulator Program Supervisor for Texas Association of Counties.   Learn what life-saving steps to take in the event an active shooter is on the premises, how to communicate with law enforcement before, during and after the event, and considerations in the hours, days, weeks and even months following the event. A checklist of important items to address in the recovery phase after the incident will also be provided.

Speaker:
Jackson.jpgDarren Jackson is the simulator program supervisor for the Texas Association of Counties and serves as the primary instructor the response to resistance training conducted across the state.  A native of Scurry County, Jackson served his home town/county for over 28 years of his law enforcement career. He began his law enforcement career in 1984 at age 18 as a dispatcher with the Snyder Police Department. Two years later he joined the Scurry County Sheriff’s Office as a correctional officer and within a month was promoted to deputy sheriff.  He served Scurry County as a deputy sheriff for 10 years, before being elected sheriff in 1996. Jackson took office in January of 1997 and served continuously for the next 16 years as Sheriff until retiring in 2012. 

Jackson received his B.A.A.S. Degree from Midwestern State University in 2010. He also hold a masters peace officer and correctional officer license through TCOLE, and is a Firearms Instructor.
