After completing a BEng (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering, and a MSc in Management, I spent over 17 years in the UK Royal Navy as an Air Engineer Officer, specializing in air operations at sea. I ran, then oversighted, the safety and operations of multi-aircraft and multi-national aviation and procurement of equipment and training. I conducted a statutory aviation accident investigation. I was responsible for the safety case and risk profiling of flight-testing new weapons on fast jets. I developed quality and safety documentation for the sale of aircraft commercially including the risk analysis and documentation for the project. In 2015 I moved to NZ, joining a large company initially as Bid Support Manager, identifying and mitigating risks in bidding for new business, then as Business Compliance and Risk Manager (later retitled Manager Safety and Quality Operations NZ). In this role I was vetted, interviewed and authorized as a senior person for safety and quality by 3 National Aviation Authorities (EASA CAANZ and CASA). I ran 2 Safety Management System certified sites (this encompasses both Occupational and Aviation safety) and conducted quality and safety auditing, I advised on risk management and the use of project and business risk registers. In 2019, I decided to make a lifestyle change and started my own business advising on risk-based safety and quality systems. I am a Chartered Engineer, qualified auditor and a member of the NZ Organization for Quality and NZ Safety Council.
