In addition to her work in risk management, Wood has worked in acute care hospital-based nursing and public health/poison information, industrial hygiene as a state OSHA health compliance officer, and as director of a hospital-based occupational health service consortium. Wood has spoken on occupational health topics at conferences in the US Northwest, Las Vegas and Reno Nevada, Dallas Texas, Montreal Canada and Kingston Jamaica. She has served on a variety of occupational health and safety advisory boards including the NIOSH funded Northwest ERC in Seattle Washington and a gubernatorial appointment to the Advisory Committee for the development of an occupational health research center in Portland Oregon. In addition to RIMS and PRIMA, Wood is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nursing, the American Association of Occupational Heath Nurses, and the American Society of Safety Engineers. She retired from paid work in 2018.
