The NARIMS Board presents a session on Enterprise & Strategic Risk Management (ERM/SRM), led by Andrew Bent of ABD Risk Management Services.
*******
An important factor in successful ERM and SRM programs is the ability to consistently identify the true causes of organizational risk. While this should be a routine part of every organization’s day-to-day business practices, all too often it is not. Treating the symptoms rather than the causes of risk can result in expensive and ineffective risk controls being developed, while still leaving the organization exposed to ongoing risk. This session will provide an overview of the analytical techniques that can be used to identify the root causes of risk, and demonstrate how these techniques can also be used during business planning sessions to maximize opportunities. This session will also include hands-on exercises that will enable attendees to gain practical experience in applying root cause analysis to ERM/SRM situations.
