Risk Analyst

Summary:

This position supports the risk management department by providing claims and loss control reporting of various types for internal and external stakeholders. The analyst receives and responds to requests from other internal departments as well as our vendor partners.


Responsibilities:

  • Gather data for and prepare metrics required for insurance applications collaborating with other internal departments.
  • Prepare loss runs and claims data both scheduled and ad hoc, from the TPA or internal risk management information systems.
  • Develop, prepare and distribute safety and injury frequency rate metrics.
  • Act as resource for outside vendors (insurance broker and claims administrator) preparing information required for day to day activities.
  • Develop the risk management information system.
  • Process all department invoices and billings pertaining to claims, fees and premiums.
  • Prepare loss and claim data and perform period end financial closings for financial statements.
  • Perform period end financial closings and corrections for miscoded claims.
  • Assist with the preparation of semi-annual actuarial review by reconciling loss data used by actuaries.
  • Provide day to day guidance to internal and external stakeholders on claim issues.
  • Analyze, review and prepare monopolistic state premium billings, applications and requests for information.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet library in coordination with vendor.
  • Retrieve information from claim systems to create OSHA logs for stores and perform annual distribution of OSHA 300 logs to stores.
  • Complete Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) survey requests and other requests for safety and/or OSHA statistics.
  • Coordinate the safety poster program for stores completing the topics and distribution of safety information.
  • Maintain materials and process to provide stores with updated safety program materials.
  • Analyze and prepare monthly store list to provide to vendors.
  • Assist with the handling of customer claim issues coming into the department.
  • Special projects assigned by Risk Manager/Director of Risk Management.


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4-6 years of analytical experience
  • Experience with insurance carrier, third party administrator or insurance broker or experience in analyst role in similar operating environment
  • Analytical skills required in order to assemble and interpret claims, metrics and loss data
  • Strong attention to details, including regular follow up on action items
  • Advanced technology skills related to Excel, queries, and insurance company risk management information system
  • Ability to work in fast paced team environment, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Desired Qualifications
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
  • Familiarity with Accounting practices such as Budget, Forecasting and Reconciliations
  • Experience working with risk management information systems (RMIS, Riskonnect)
