The purpose of this brief is to present some of the most interesting aspects of key international standards, including aspects that are of interest to Canada because they are novel, different from Canadian traditions, or because they represent particularly well-developed international approaches to risk management systems. This brief has been written for a broad audience, including non-experts on risk management. It covers selected international initiatives (ISO & IRGC) as well as selected national standards (AS/NZS 2004, The Red, Blue, White and Orange books from the National Research Council (NRC) of the US, BSI British Standards, and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Note that COSO is NOT included.
