Bio

Monica Merrifield is a strategic risk and innovation leader dedicated to enabling strategies and building capacity for stronger, more resilient organizations to achieve the kind of positive change desired. Monica is a senior advisor on strategic risk and innovation for YMCAs and other nonprofit and public sector organizations in Canada, and was Vice President of Risk Intelligence for YMCA of Greater Toronto where she pioneered strategic risk management, ERM and innovation programs for one of Canada’s largest charities. Monica is Chair of the global RIMS Strategic & Enterprise Risk Management Council, and a Deloitte Canada ERM Roundtable Member, and RIMS Board Diversity Task Force Member. Monica also co-founded and was chair of a national risk management and insurance program for 14 YMCAs in cities across Canada. Monica is an author and speaker at conferences on strategic risk, innovation and strategy, and facilitates workshops for leadership teams. She has lived and worked abroad with assignments in Italy, Mexico, U.S.A. and Colombia. Monica is the recipient of the Global RIMS ERM Award of Distinction, and she also received the Risk Innovator Award from Risk & Insurance Magazine, and a Conference Board of Canada Governance Honourable Mention in Risk & Control Systems.
