Barry joined Teck Resources Limited taking on the responsibility of enhancing and aligning the global loss control program for existing Operations, expansions, and future projects, and providing additional guidance and support towards the risk management and risk assessment processes. In addition to supporting the global insurance program within Canada's largest diversified extractive company, his role as the Director of Risk, Security and Loss Control includes oversight of the corporate crisis management program, security management, emergency response planning and preparation, and business continuity planning. Prior to Teck, Barry held a leadership role within the Engineering and Loss Control division of a global insurance provider where he provided underwriting support and direction in addition to leading numerous risk assessments within commercial and industrial operations from woodworking and plastics manufacturing facilities to fiberglass plants to the Oil Sands in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Barry's passion towards risk management stems from twelve years commercial and industrial trade certification and project management combined with twenty-nine years of experience in Risk Management, Corporate Security, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning, Crisis Management, and Occupational Health & Safety. Barry is a graduate of the University of Calgary Risk Management program and the Grant MacEwan University Security Management program, and holds CIP and CRM designations.
