Dear Alabama RIMS Members and Guests:
Our 2010/2011 program year is in full swing! If you missed the seminars in September or October, you missed the best events in our Chapter's history. The chapter also collected 39 gifts for Toys for Tots at our December luncheon! We also saw a number of first time guests at the December meeting, and we hope they had a great time and will come back again. Thanks again to all of the sponsors and attendees that made all of these events both possible and a tremendous success!
Looking forward, we have some exciting programs planned for the upcoming months. Details are still being finalized for some events, but the schedule looks something like this:
March 7, 2011 – Joint meeting with the CPCU Society
Ethics & Humor in the Workplace
Speaker: Mr. Mark Garnett
Location: Comedy Club Stardome
RSVP to Bethany by February 24th!
March 22, 2011 – NuCor Field Trip
May 11, 2011 – Business Meeting
June 2011 – Barons Game
July 2011 – No Meeting (Summer break)
August 2011 – No Meeting (Summer break)
Looks interesting, right? Watch here for the final details......or stay posted on Facebook and Twitter!
That's right! The Alabama chapter is now on Facebook (FRIEND US!) and, as far as we can tell, the chapter is only the third RIMS organization (NV and NY were 1 and 2, we think) to use Twitter to post chapter news and events! Follow us at www.twitter.com/RIMSAlabama. We're also evaluating the use of a LinkedIn group to interact with members and as a way for members to interact with one another. We hope that these social networking tools help you stayed informed of all of the happening with the Chapter, and make the Chapter more valuable to you.
Facebook, Twitter, door prizes, seminars, contests....we are looking forward to an incredible year and we hope that you take advantage of your membership in RIMS by joining us for all of the meetings. The officers try to select meeting topics that are timely and informative to the chapter members, so if there is something that you're interested in hearing, let us know. Call an officer, send an email, or send a message on Facebook.
Alabama Chapter Board of Directors
The Alabama Chapter on a regular basis throughout the year. From across the State of Alabama, members come to network and exchange information. The membership is comprised of many prominent manufacturing, service and material companies, state government agencies, many academic institutions, and risk management and insurance service providers.
The Alabama Chapter is a volunteer organization and could not function without the efforts of its members who volunteer their time, whether in the role of Officer, Director, Committee Member, or At-Large Board Member. We hope that if you are considering joining RIMS, you will attend one of our meetings to learn more about our organization. If you are a Deputy Member not currently active in the leadership of the Chapter, we invite you to become more involved by volunteering to serve on a committee. It is a great way of getting to know others as well as providing the Alabama Chapter with your ideas and leadership.
