Friends,

We appreciate the attendance of all at our virtual meetings last season; considering differing working arrangements, and county restrictions, we will be continuing our meetings on a virtual basis for the next few months.

Registration is now open to join your peers for our September 2021 DEL VAL RIMS meeting entitled, “Advanced Technologies, Digitization and its impact on the insurance industry as we know it”. Our presenters will be Leah Cooper, Managing Director, Global Consumer Technology, Sedgwick and Andy Pelcin, PhD, Head of Research and Insights, Buckle.  Technology today empowers claims professionals unlike ever before. The world of artificial intelligence and analytics is exploding and revealing where and when to direct resources to improve results. Tools used to maximize claim handling efficiency, such as Robotic Process Automation and Rules-Based Decision Engines, are the first steps towards automating traditional processes in the insurance industry. In this session we will discuss the concept of claim digitization, and the impact that it is having on the insurance industry. We will review these tools and provide specific insights “from the inside”: how are InsurTech-focused companies influencing the long-standing business processes around underwriting and claims? And how has the transition from established carrier to tech startup worked for insurance professionals, from first-hand experience? Advanced technologies and the changing players within the insurance space will stimulate a conversation about how our industry has changed, and what we hope to see in the future.   Building on these concepts, a long time claim professional will discuss applying similar learnings to a startup that is delivering a "hybrid" auto product to the Gig economy.  A discussion of the advantages (and disadvantages) of applying technology, data gathering, and data science, under the financial constraints of a start-up.

The meeting date is Tuesday, September 14, and this will be our first virtual RIMS Chapter meeting for 2021 – 22. Please begin to log in at 8:15 to the meeting link which will be provided soon after registration and prior to the meeting date. The session will begin at 8:30 am and will conclude before 10:00 am.

A link will be emailed to you once you have registered for the meeting.
