Emilie Lang is the Officer of Insurance Services for the City of Ottawa. She specializes in municipal insurance and risk management and is responsible for managing the City’s insurance portfolio and advising internal stakeholders on insurance and operational risk management issues.
Considered an industry “born in,” Emilie was the third generation in her family to pursue a career in insurance, and the first to focus solely on commercial property and casualty lines. She started her career in 2005 in her hometown of Toronto in the niche market of entertainment insurance, and after moving to Ottawa in 2007, she gained experience working with more mainstream segments such as construction, realty, non-profit, and public sector. In 2019, she was hired by the City of Ottawa, shifting her from a broker to a client, and allowing her to use her skills from a new perspective. Through her career, she has completed certificates for Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), and Canadian Risk Management (CRM) programs.
When not at work or volunteering for the RIMS Ottawa board she enjoys keeping active and doing crafts.
