Manuel Padilla is the Vice President, Risk Management & Insurance for MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated, a holding company with interests in a diversified portfolio of public and private companies. Holdings have included leading market entities in a wide range of industries, including, cosmetics, film and digital entertainment, casino gaming and lottery systems, banking services, print media, military equipment, mining and biotechnology.
Mr. Padilla has been employed with MacAndrews and its affiliated companies since 1992. His duties at MacAndrews include analysis, procurement and management of a variety of risk management functions, including settlement activities on first party and third-party claims.
He has participated in a number of industry related professional committees, including, the RIMS External Affairs Committee, the RIMS RISKPAC Committee and currently serves on RIMS Global Board of Directors. He is co-chair of the Lloyds Counsel of Risk Owners, a member of the risk committee for the New York Navy League, Executive Council Member for the Maurice Greenberg School of Risk Management (St. Johns University) and a member of a private family office risk committee group.
He graduated cum laude from the College of Insurance in 1992 earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Certificate in Multiple Lines Underwriting. He holds the following industry designations: ARM, AIC, CPRIA, SPPA and MLIS.
Between 1982 and 1988, Mr. Padilla served in the United States Navy primarily engaged in shipboard engineering functions, serving on the USS Carl Vinson, the USS Kitty Hawk, and the USS Mount Baker. He was also the Asst. Master at Arms for Fighter Squadron 124 located in San Diego. He has been a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary since 2002 and was formerly the Commander for Division 11 located in Brooklyn, NY. He is qualified in various marine safety related areas and has earned the USCG Auxiliary AuxOp designation in addition to several awards.
