Bio

Annette Homan joined the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) in 2009. In her role as the Chief Operating Officer, she oversees the alignment of the day-to-day operations of the Society with the overall mission, goals and strategy as set forth by the Board of Directors, and Executive Council. Annette leads a team of department heads to ensure the efficient and prompt execution of all duties and responsibilities, and serves as an integral part of the executive management team. As the preeminent organization dedicated to advancing the practice of risk management, RIMS is a global not-for-profit organization representing more than 3,500 industrial, service, nonprofit, charitable and government entities throughout the world while providing networking and professional development opportunities to its membership of more than 10,000 professionals. Prior to joining RIMS, Annette was the Director of Professional and Technical Portfolios for the American Management Association (AMA) for over five years. In that capacity, she led the development of new programs, collaborated with subject matter experts to enhance existing programs, streamlined operational processes and managed a team of portfolio managers to ensure consistency of established processes, procedures, policies and quality standards. AMA is a global not-for-profit, membership-based association that provides a full range of management development and educational services to individuals, and companies worldwide, including 486 of the Fortune 500 companies. Previously, Annette was a Vice President of Learning and Development for U.S. Trust Company, one of the oldest trust companies in the nation. At U.S. Trust, she developed, delivered and evaluated a broad array of management, communications, sales and technical training programs for all levels of the organization, including the board of directors. Annette spent the first 11 years of her career at The Dreyfus Corporation, one of the nations leading mutual fund companies. As a Training Supervisor she provided consulting expertise in the areas of management development, customer service, sales training, technical training and service quality standards. Early on in her career at Dreyfus she evaluated the effectiveness of an on-boarding training program and managed the redesign of the curriculum, resulting in a 25% reduction of time and cost. Annette brings more than 30 years experience from both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. She has a BS in Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology and lives with her family in Seaford.
