Gary Langsdale recently retired as University Risk Officer for The Pennsylvania State University, a position he held since 2003. He now serves as part-time Education Manager for the University Risk Management & insurance Association (URMIA). Prior to Penn State, he was Director of Risk Management at International Paper Company. Gary has over 40 years of experience in the insurance and risk management field, has co-authored three white papers for URMIA, and participated in the 2010 development of the ASME standard on risk assessment for institutions of higher education. In 2009, he was recognized by Business Insurance magazine as a member of their Risk Management Honor Roll; in 2014 he was awarded URMIA's highest honor, the "Distinguished Risk Manager" designation. Gary has a Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny College, and holds the Associate in Risk Management professional designation. His hobbies are saying no to his children and yes to his grandchildren.
