Christy Kaufman is a recognized leader with deep expertise in the risk management ecosystem. She has a proven track record of guiding sizeable cross-functional and global teams in the design and implementation of leading-edge risk and compliance programs.
Christy recently joined Zillow Group as the VP of Risk Management. Previously, she led Strategy, Governance and Compliance for American Family Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on early-stage startups impacting the risk and insurance industry. Christy also formerly headed Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and was Chief of Staff to the General Counsel of Marsh & McLennan Companies and was formerly a consultant for Aon and Ernst & Young, assisting clients in the areas of ERM, compliance, governance, business continuity planning, crisis management, and strategic risk financing.
Passionate about helping young professionals grow their careers, Christy is an adjunct professor in the Risk Management and Insurance department of the University of Wisconsin School of Business and a member of the UW MBA Advisory Board. Christy is also a Director of the global board of the Risk & Insurance Management Society and was honored as a "Woman to Watch" by Business Insurance in 2017.
Christy’s involvement with RIMS began in 2000 when she was awarded the Society’s Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program Scholarship. The experience inspired her to remain active with RIMS, frequently delivering presentations at chapters and the annual conference. Today, Christy is serves as Director on RIMS global Board.
She holds a MS in Risk Management and Insurance and a BBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin.
