Christy Kaufman is an accomplished leader with deep expertise in the enterprise risk management, compliance, insurance, and Insurtech ecosystems. She currently serves as the VP of Risk and Compliance at USAA,. Her background also includes corporate risk management and insurance product leadership roles for Zillow, American Family Insurance and Marsh McLennan, and risk management consulting roles for Ernst & Young and Aon. In addition, Christy previously led strategy and compliance for American Family Ventures, a leading venture capital fund investing in early-stage companies at the nexus of risk and technology. Passionate about developing the next generation of leaders, Christy is an Adjunct Professor in the #1 ranked Risk Management and Insurance program at the University of Wisconsin School of Business, a member of the UW MBA Advisory Board, and a Mentor for early-stage risk and insurance ventures through UW and Creative Destruction Labs. Christy is also a Board Advisor at Monitaur, an artificial intelligence governance platform, and a Board Director at Rogers Behavioral Health, a national mental healthcare system.
Christy has been recognized as a Risk Management All Star by Risk & Insurance, a Woman to Watch by Business Insurance, and an Elite Woman by Insurance Business America. Christy obtained her master's and undergraduate degrees in Finance and Risk Management from the University of Wisconsin, where she was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2014. Christy also holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter and Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional designations.
Christy’s involvement with RIMS began in 2000 when she was awarded the Society’s Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program Scholarship. The experience inspired her to remain active with RIMS, frequently delivering presentations at chapters and the annual conference. Christy also served as a Director on RIMS global board from 2021 - 2023.
