On October 20, 2018, the RIMS Board of Directors amended the policy for Associate Members. Associate Members are now allowed to serve on Chapter Boards.
The RIMS Board of Directors has provided much needed support to the various chapters who are looking to include all members of the Chapter when filling their Board positions. By allowing Associate members to serve on the Chapter Boards, the Chapter is gaining access to additional insight and expertise all the while providing development opportunities for younger members looking to contribute and gain volunteer skills as their careers progress.
At the June 10th, 2019 BCRIMA Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors ratified the update to the Chapter Bylaws, Section 7 Board of Directors to read as follows:
Composition & Eligibility
The Board is comprised of up to nine (9) elected Directors and four (4) elected Officers. The Officers are the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Professional Members and Retired Members are eligible to stand for election as Directors or Officers. A Professional Member who becomes a Transitional Member while serving as a Director or Officer may finish their term, but may not stand for re-election while still a Transitional Member. An Associate Member may serve as a Director but may not serve as an Officer. No more than two (2) Associate Members may serve on the Board simultaneously.”
