PRESIDENT'S 2026 WELCOME
Saskatchewan, "The Land of Living Skies", well known for its amazing sunrises and sunsets, is home to this award winning RIMS chapter. SKRIMS is committed to continuing to offer networking opportunities and provide educational content for our members.
2025 was another very exciting year for SKRIMS. We held a total of 14 SKRIMS events in 2025 including virtual lunch and learns, in person meetings, virtual and in person networking events, and community outreach engagement opportunities in both Regina and Saskatoon. We held our 5th Annual Golf Day at Harbour Golf Course in Elbow SK and what a success it was. We had record heat, record sponsorship, record attendance, with golfers from 5 provinces and the US. Mark your calendars now for August 19th for the 2026 SKRIMS Golf Day.
We were thrilled to award our first SKRIMS Chapter Scholarship to Abigail Baade, a University of Regina Actuarial Science student. Applications are now available for the 2026-2027 academic year and are being accepted until June 30, 2026. The scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a student seeking a career in Risk Management, Insurance, Cyber Security or Actuarial Science. Applicants be a Saskatchewan resident and a student member of RIMS to apply.
In the Fall 2025 semester, the University of Regina offered a business class in risk management – Uncertainty Management that was developed and taught by one of our board members – Jim MacKenzie. In the Winter 2026 semester, the University of Saskatchewan is offering a business class in risk management – Risk Analysis and Management that was developed and is being taught by one of our board members – Nick Quigley.
We will be continuing with the “Win Your Way to the RIMS Canada Conference Contest” for 2026 open to all SKRIMS members who attend our events. This year will we be drawing for two people to attend the 2026 RIMS Canada Conference from October 18-21 in Quebec City.
- You could WIN a 2026 RIMS Canada Conference Registration, Hotel and travel expenses up to $3,000!
- For every SKRIMS event that you attend between June 2025 and the AGM in May 2026, eligible SKRIMS members will receive an entry to the draw for the contest. (Example: Jane Smith attends 2 virtual lunch and learns, 1 networking event and the AGM. She will receive 4 entries to the draw for the contest).
- Draw will be held in-person at the AGM in Regina in May 2026.
