Tina Gardiner is the Manager, Risk Management Services at The Regional Municipality of York, an upper tier municipality of 1.8 million residents located just north of Toronto, Ontario. In her role with York Region she oversees claims management, the insurance portfolio, enterprise risk management services and is active on many internal committees and working groups including IT risk management, emergency management, fleet/driver safety and BCP.
Tina served as a Director on the RIMS Board of Directors for 4 years, from January 2020 through December 2023. She provides assistance as the Past-Chair of the RIMS Canada Council and Ontario RIMS Chapter (ORIMS) having served as its president in 1993, 2015 and 2016. She was Chair of the RIMS Canada Conference Committee in 1997. Tina is also the Chair of an online municipal forum, as well as Co-Chair of a municipal think tank group.
Serving the broader GTA risk management community, Tina is a member of the RM Program Advisory Council for York University and is a member of the Housing Services Corporation- Insurance Reference Group; serving as Chair from September 2020 to September 2023.
Outside of work Tina is a committee member of the International Committee at City Hall for her hometown of Barrie, Ontario. She is involved in international travel and enjoys hosting guests from Barrie's sister cities worldwide.
