Marshall Gilinsky is a partner in the insurance recovery group at Anderson Kill, where he represents policyholder clients on complex insurance coverage matters.

Marshall has been actively monitoring developments regarding AI for the insurance industry – both with respect to potential claims, as well as its uptake as a tool for underwriting and claims handling functions at insurance companies.  Marshall and his colleagues at Anderson Kill have been out front about the need for watchdogs and regulators to demand that AI tools under development afford “explainability” and that they be implemented in a way that ensures the ongoing protection of policyholders' rights.

Shiraz Saeed is the Leader of the Cyber & Technology Risk practice at Arch Insurance Group, where he is responsible for the strategic direction of the underwriting, risk engineering and claims teams.

The insurance industry is going through their own “Industrial Revolution” currently with the onset of Language Learning Models being developed in AI. Utilizing AI as a part of the UW process is changing how Insurance Carriers, Brokers and Risk Managers will be doing business going into the future.

Board Letter

May 1, 2024

Dear MRIMS Membership,

For those of you attending RiskWorld this month, we wish you safe travels.  We know that the experience, educational opportunities and networking will make the trip to San Diego worth it!

We look forward to hosting our last educational meeting of the 2023-24 year.  Please join us on Thursday, May 16 at 9 am at FM Global’s University Avenue, Norwood Educational Center.  Marshall Giliniski of Anderson Kill will be leading an engaging discussion entitled ‘The Increasing Dependance of AI and the IMpact on Coverage Disputes and the Underwriting Process.

Our Annual MRIMS Golf Outing takes place Monday June 3, 2024 at Blue Hills Country Club.  We are nearly sold out so please reach out to Joe DiLauro if you’d like to attend.  We also have a dinner only option.  We have limited sponsorships available which Joe can guide you through.   The Golf Outing is our annual campaign for year long sponsorships of MRIMS.  We thank all our sponsors for your generous support of MRIMS!

If you have interest in joining the MRIMS board we invite you to stay after the May 16th meeting to meet with current board members.  We will answer any questions you may have.  Please note board members must be Professional Members (Primary, Secondary and Additional Members) or an Individual Member in good standing.

Jennnifer Blair has announced that she will be leaving the board at the end of the 2023-24 year due to a change in jobs roles.  Jennifer has been on the board for 7 years and is currently our Secretary.  This is a very labor intensive board role and Jennifer has performed it with grace and enthusiasm.  She has contributed many ideas that we have acted on and have positioned MRIMS for success for years to come.  Jennifer, thank you for your service and dedication to MRIMS.

Please feel free to reach out to any of us if you have any questions.  We look forward to seeing you on May 16th.

Sincerely,

Kara Wordell, President

We are so pleased to have heard from many of you asking how to be more involved in MRIMS.  If you are considering getting more engaged in the risk & insurance community, please let us know. There are several ways, including volunteering to staff events and meetings to becoming a board member.

We are looking to add 2-3 new board members in 2024. If your role is a risk/insurance management or a claims management professional for a company, college, university, or organization, please reach out to any current board member to express your interest. We will host a web meeting to share information about the board roles, responsibilities and time commitment and answer any questions you may have.

If you are interested in hosting an event or speaking at a future educational session, please reach out to Aldo Guerrero or Kara Wordell.

If you would like to volunteer to help at the Annual Golf Outing, please contact Joe DiLauro.

We are very pleased with how engaged the Risk & Insurance community is as we start 2024 and look forward to seeing everyone at an event this Spring.

Fondly,

Kara Wordell, President, Iron Mountain

Joseph DiLauro, Vice President, State Street

Anastos Chiavaras, Treasurer, Boston College
