John Freese is the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Manager at United Fire Group (UFG), where he leads enterprise risk management processes including risk identification, assessment, reporting, monitoring, and risk appetite oversight. He works closely with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making and oversees and supports key initiatives related to risk governance, emerging risks, business resilience, and corporate insurance programs.

Since joining UFG in 2017, John has held roles in underwriting, risk control, and enterprise risk management, providing him with broad experience across the insurance industry. He holds the RIMS-CRO in Advanced ERM, RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Underwriting (AU), and Associate in Insurance (AINS) designations.

John earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and a Certificate in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Iowa. He currently serves as Vice President of the Greater Iowa RIMS Chapter and is committed to advancing the risk management profession through education, networking, and industry engagement.
